The Player Development Centre (PDC) is designed as a supplemental training opportunity for the city’s best and brightest female footballing talents aged between 9 and 16. The girls will be exposed to an environment designed to encourage and nurture their potential ensuring they receive the most professional guidance and support in their quest to develop to the best of their footballing ability.
Being challenged to both acquire and apply a variety of advanced skills alongside understanding the mental attributes required to become success on both the football field and the classroom, the girls will be trained in ‘The Tigress Way’.
During training, groups will be split in the most developmentally appropriate way possible. Sometimes this will be by ability, sometimes by age, other times by bio banding players together who are physically at the same stage of their development ultimately ensuring the most suitable degree of challenge is afforded to each and every player in the program.
Through participation within the PDC the girls will also be exposed to a variety of pathways within which both their football and academic development will be supported.
Some of those older players that display the requisite attitude and skills, may be offered the chance to join the Hull City Ladies team in what we hope will become a glorious era of Super League football for the city. For some of the brightest younger ones, a recommendation to join partner York City’s Category 1 Regional Training Centre may be suggested to continue to further aid their development. In addition however, opportunities for players’ to continue with both their academic and football development within both further and higher education will also be encouraged with our partner organizations detailed below. Opportunities both at home and abroad in the US, will also be presented ensuring no stone is left unturned in our effort to present every player in our care with a suitably tailored development plan.
Priding ourselves on the quality of our staff, the Hull City Ladies Player Development Centre offers all players the opportunity to train on a weekly basis with members of our professional staff. All coaches are fully qualified, DBS checked, Emergency First Aid Certified. The Coaches are regularly checked with all policies and procedures in place. Head Coach and UEFA License holder Danny Johnson will oversee all PDC activities ably supported by a fantasic team of coaches!!!
Central to our approach to both youth and player development is the understanding that the game is the players’ and we must create learning environments that applaud their expression of confidence and calculated risk taking. Within the PDC the girls will be encouraged to solve their own problems with our coaches creating relationships that place the player at the center of their learning journey. Developing both the capacity of how to and the knowledge of when to, our players will be challenged to embrace the application of the skills that separate the best from the rest.
Places in the PDC programme are currently open to all girls. Once we are at capacity there may be a waiting list.
